  • This project presented itself with a few existing challenges: the floor configuration was not very suitable for a LAB Facility because of the curved façade; the floor area was not quite enough to accommodate the design brief; there were major issues of security and separation between the visitors, staff, and services circulation flows. To provide a good working environment our design focused on the openness and warmth of the space.
Because the natural light could not be even distributed our design maximizes the natural light use but complement it with a modulated and design-controlled artificial light. Lab spaces are usually defined by a sterile and cold environment – our design achieves a peaceful, relaxed ambiance that is more suitable for work by using greenery, water, and warmer materials as wood. In R&D is crucial to have collaboration between different domains and since this facility strives to be a place of development, the design includes break areas that encourage more interaction between the personnel.
The entrance is sunk down so it creates a more impactful effect on the guests, and it allows the passer by to see the LED screen at a comfortable height. As one approaches the facility – the entrance reveals itself, inviting the guests in.
